Custom Made

Starting this blog prompted me to go through all the postcards I've received over the years and I've picked some of my favourites which I'll post over the coming weeks.

This one was sent to me by my very good friends Jackie & Lisa who were travelling in New Zealand at the time and when I received it I remember it made me laugh out loud.  Seeing my friends, who had been away for a year at that point, having fun in postcard form brought a big smile to my face.

Aussie Reminders

My sister is travelling in Australia at the moment so it's a good time for postcards for me. She's been very diligent in sending them and it's been a cool way to keep up with her and remember all those places I visited myself 10 years ago when I was travelling there.

So far she's sent 26 from Oz and I'm expecting 1 a week for the remainder of her stay. (Yes Aideen, that is indeed a blatant hint that I just dropped)

These 3 I've chosen are a good representation of Australia I think.

I wish I was there.........

Car Boot Purchase

I don't normally buy old postcards that are sent to others, the joy for me comes from receiving them from friends and family.

But I love illustrated work and today at the Bandon car boot sale, I couldn't resist this one.  At 38c it was a bargain, sent from Spain to Cork in the '80's where the sender tells her mother how surprised she is that it's rained!

I went with my friend Ver and her daughter, and it's Ver who encouraged me to start a blog so it seems only right to start off with this one.
